Did you get one? What are your thoughts regarding the 'starter' career specialization ships? Does having something like a Vulcan in your fleet make ships that specialize in long range (Vanguard, I'm looking at you) obsolete?
Nope, didn't get one. The concept is interesting as is the idea of it being a 'starter career ship' on the way to a Crucible or Starfarer.
As for your "range" speculation: Very interested in this. I've got a Vanguard that has been hiding from the blowtorch for a long time now. I've been wondering how the traditional "escort cargo ship from planet X to planet Y" will work out for a while now. The Vulcan may mean that a group of 4 players could run 2 Hornets + a Vulcan instead of 2 Vanguards for a run that's "beyond Hornet range".
Unfortunately, I don't see this as being really answered until we have enough (10?) star systems in the Alpha that fuel tanks and range really matter - until then, it's just speculation that's "subject to game balance decisions." So my Vanguard (and it's now-unsupported BUKs) are safe for this year at least.
