Hey guys. As there has not been a whole lot to really sink my teeth into on this years sale, i have not dug into the CCU-fu as much this year. Nonetheless there was a lot of stuff of value hidden in this sale. So in no particular order of importance i want to list the best of the CCUs for you folks so you can pick em up before the sales end.
#1 Dragonfly to Nox: This $5 CCU is most useful because CIG has said the Nox will go up in price by $5 when 3.0 goes live, so ur spending five to make five more. Its a paid CCU so CIG wont take it from you and the nox is a worthy alternative to the dragonfly if that isnt ur taste.
#2 Gladius to Cutlass Black: The cutlass is a fine ship in its own right so this is a great placeholder for that ship. Lets face it though, this is another price jump waiting to happen and Ben himself said as much. No one knows how much its going to jump but does that really matter?
#3 Hull C to Eclipse: Taking advantage of a $50 price to get you to a $55 price jump is rather amusing and potentially more beneficial than the BMM price jump as it gives more flexibility in later CCU options. For example the BMM price jump excludes u getting the gemini or any of the $350 ships. Plus the eclipse is a decent choice for PvP action at 50 bucks less if u had the Hull C.
#4 Hull C to Sentinel: Another situational as u needed to have the hull C before the price jump, but if you did this is sweet. A Vanguard Sentinel at $50 less is badass and the ship is one of the best in the game if u want to kill people without depending on friends to log on at the same time.
#5 Anything to Orion: Probably the second best CCU to make this list honestly. The orion is officially doubling in size and there is no way its not going to make a price jump. For Pete's sake its now the size of an idris or really close to it. This things smells of money both in game and ur hangar. If u got the loose credits or are wanting bigger ships cheaper and dont get this, i will come chew up that asteroid you parked ur hangar on personally.
#6 Something to Banu Defender: The ship shape video pretty much said that the layout of Banu ships are being done all at once because the very idea of it is still in works. That means just because the defender is smaller its likely to be released before the BMM. Furthermore ive commented on how it has firepower comparable to the sabre but longer range. Still better is that you can share controls with a co-pilot, the only fighter to be able to do so. For that i recommend a $5 token of Sh to defender just in case but if u got another ship thats close in price go for it.
#7 Freelancer MIS and Gladiator CCUs: If you followed me last year on my recommendations, i screamed to everyone to get zero cost CCUs to the superhornet. As CIG has not taken those away as yet, get u something to the gladiator and/or MIS so that when they give us the warning of taking the $0 away you can apply them. If nothing else u can melt em later.
#8 Gemini to Hull D/Endeavor/Crucible: To be fair you need access to a gemini to make this work but that doesnt make these any less valuable. These ships will get a price jump sometime and $10 is as cheap of a place holder as u will get. Further more they are good ships in their own right. A friend of mine has a gemini to carrack upgrade and hes laughing all the way to his polaris as we speak!
#9 BMM to Hull E: the BMM price jump is the second best way to save money. The catch is that u have to go to a ship that is $400 or more in CCU value to be able to use it. Of ALL the ships that are in that price range i think the Hull E is the smartest thing to CCU to. In addition to being the king of cargo moving, its also the most likely to make a price jump and make the hammerhead or polaris a little cheaper. If you want as much ship for the buck as possible, then u need this CCU.
#10 Hammerhead to Polaris: Right now the path to saving a buck getting to the hammerhead is a bit murky but i do like having the option of getting as low cost of ccu as possible. Though i love the hammerhead the polaris is more ship per dollar and so this is a nice one to have in ur pocket or buyback for a rainy day.
Honorable mention: Carrack/Reclaimer to 600i Explorer. I feel like the 600i is fairly likely to go up in price and maybe help get to the hull e or hammerhead. The issue is that speculation and is only helpful if u have a cheap reclaimer/carrack (such as last years zero cost ccus). Worth a mention though.
Prospector??? Just wanna mention we may get a jump in price but no knows. Gamble at ur own risk.
CCUS TO AVOID
#1 Anything to Hull C (now): if u want a hull c i hope u got a CCU last year as $250 for it is not that great now. The BMM is a lot more shooting and the hull D is a lot more ship for just $100 more.
#2 Anything to the Hawke: This ship is way too undergunned for the price. If you want it then just get the ship and then melt it for ur buybacks instead of eating up precious store credit.
Do you agree with my list? Do u have something i missed? Comment below and keep ur eyes out folks as im not down with content yet.
